From time to time there is a problem using some of our content. And thus, this FAQ.
Q: Many of these sims are causing my game to crash. Why?
Many of the sims also use videos. I have noticed, unfortunately, that in order to export them in the quality that they are with the small filesize I manage involves a codec that seems to largely disagree with the way that StepMania 3.9 renders videos. I know for a fact that these sims will work on 3.95 and I have no word yet on their compatability with 4.0.
Q: Several courses seem brutishly hard / don't look like they did on YouTube / etc. Why?
Same fix as the songs, get 3.95 or higher. The thing is that on 3.9, many modifiers don't work properly with negative values, in fact I can't think of a single one that does work right that way on 3.9, for that reason anything that has a negative flip value will cause 100% flip rather than spread the arrows apart. Generally, a broken negative value will cause 100% of the effect it is attached to, so this breaks the more advanced courses such as the Insomnia series. Basically... just install StepMania 3.95
Q: Where can I get a good build and theme for StepMania 3.95?
Q: I've downloaded your 3D 3.95 NoteSkins and they don't appear correctly. Why?
This is generally fixed by installing your video hardware's latest drivers. Google for them. If you don't know what your hardware is (for some reason or another) - Click "Start", click "Run", type "dxdiag", hit enter, if a question comes up tell it No, click the "Display" tab. There under Device you should have all the information you need. If you're on Linux, you'd better not be unaware of something like your video hardware, if you're on a Mac then I don't quite know how to find out what your video hardware is. If someone out there finds out, let me know.
