First off, if these or many of the other sims don't work on your StepMania, you've got two options: remove the videos, or get SM 3.95 CVS (recommended) or 4.0. SM 3.9 simply does not get along with the video codec that I choose to use to keep the filesize of the videos down without destroying their quality. And these two sims are a fine example of that goal.
Second, I simply wanted to explain the files, they are certainly not my usual work. I loved the first flash video some time ago and the other day I wound up with "There she is!!" stuck in my head (the song, not the flash). I hadn't done much in a while and thought that it would be interesting. I woke up quite some time before work and set forth to convert the flash to a video. First it would record the audio, then record the flash frame by frame, then mux the two in a horribly offsync fashion, which I then would have to video edit to sync up, then export uncompressed, creating the file which I would then convert one last time into the acceptable and small AVI that would be used for the simfile. During all of this I would have to dump the audio in WAV form, then convert that into MP3, then that into an OGG (keeps the loss ratio down), and make absolutely certain that the sim video had no audio track. The audio track will only take up more computing space and make the video size larger, it is unnecessary. A long process, I know, that doesn't even count the fact that its complexity actually brings about forgetting to do one thing or another, and the fact that ripping audio from a flash is a shitty task, it takes a little while just for the audio dump to occur and it has a habit of breaking, leaving an incomplete track in either the form of a file that ends too early or has a large blank portion. Needless to say it was quite annoying but it I think it was worth it. I love the way these turned out and I definitely plan on doing something like this again. In fact I'd have to say that I plan on doing the rest of the There she is!! series that hasn't come out yet. The has planned Steps 3, 4, and Final... they will be charted and they will be here.
It has already been commented that the quality of the video might even be higher quality than the flashes themselves. It's possible, I used a softening filter which lightly fuzzes the visual. It's probably just eliminating the pixelation with something like this. So yeah, I don't doubt it.
Anyways, that's enough gabbing for now, I talked way too much yesterday as it is. Pece oot.
