Since this project took off, I've recieved a lot of questions about this or that, some of it actually partakes of relevance to VirInPro, and strangely enough lots of it doesn't - even though all of the feedback is definitely VirInPro generated. I thought that I'd take the time and make a nice blogging... or update... really it's whatever you readers want to consider it, of lots of the feedback. I won't be including names, or any types of hints what-so-ever of who asked what, in fact, I'll probably be putting a large amount of this in my own vernacular, so none of it will be direct quotes. I feel that's probably the ultimate way to keep the anonymity of everyone. Going to have to drop a HELL OF A LOT OF READING warning right here and we'll start off with some things that are VirInPro related.
Q: What is the origin of VirInPro, how did this start?
At first it was an idea of mine to start a group of myself and two other friends as none of us sucked at simfiling... even if I was the only one that did it regularly at the time. Afterwards, the concept became sort of utopian in the idea my intent turned to gathering everyone I could that actually made good stuff for StepMania of any medium, be it simfiles, noteskins, etc. Afterwards, on chance I ran into Reality Undone on BemaniStyle to work on some of his music with StepMania. Afterwards he inspired going big with VirInPro. That's basically what kicked this off.
Q: Why don't you guys have a forum?
We will... soon.
Q: What happened to Aldrasio, he hasn't had a release in a long time.
Sadly, Aldrasio's life has been completely swallowed in other responsibilities, most of which being school related activities and preparing for college. It is unlikely that we'll see a lot of action from him in the near future. He is indeed still considered a member here and has not retracted any of his work from our organization, and thankfully, has made no indication that he may eventually intend to do so. It's likely that he'll return once his life becomes less hectic, just remember that there's no telling when that will happen, and that it is likely that it'll be quite a while.
Q: What happened to the IRC channel?
It broke and I see no glaring reason to care.
Q: There haven't been new members in a while, why?
It is painfully obvious that, as of now, we are not well known enough to attract potential members* without actively seeking them. I don't have the time to do that and neither does any current member of this organization that would be qualified to do so. As it currently stands I'm just going to give it time.
* note - by "potential members" I mean people that meet our standards of quality.
Q: In your opinion - what are the best simfiles here?
Hmmm... really not sure, it's hard to decide on a whole, plus there are different types of qualities such as fun factor, originality, blah blah. I'll break it down by simfile author:
Zanaso: Clap Hands or Rising
Aldrasio: %10 or Earth Quake
WinDEU: Epileptic Crisis or Chik Habit
I guess now is as good as ever for starting with some of the not so relevant questions. But let it be known that I get asked some weird things sometimes.
Q: A Bug's Life or Antz?
Uh... Antz, I guess.
Q: Blah blah, 2008 election?
Normally I'd rather not get involved. But this election is probably the greatest example of my view point on elections. That view point is that every four years we have to make a very difficult decision between several absolutely horrible options. I say they are all shit on rice. We need another option on the ballot, one of "Shuffle and Start Over", because seriously this is the first time where the presidential potentials have reminded me more of Saturday Night Live than the other way around. This selection is so bad that the only thing that I can hope for is that Hillary Clinton does not win. She is the only one in the group who appears to be running for no other reason than to win... fuck the country, fuck its people, just win. So my problem with her, is not that I know the others aren't like that, it is that I don't know that they are. I might be wrong, could be, oh well... I'm not going to act like I'm spouting pure immutable fact here, but this is my opinion on the matter and that's what the question was about.
Q: Which "side of the road" are you on, politically?
I'd like to think that I have a mind of my own and don't necessarily lump myself into either group. My opinions that the world at large consider to be "political" tend to categorize me as "middle of the road" as far as political issues go, my views range from democratic to republican to neither. My basic view on being either or is that if you look at a list of beliefs and decide that you fully agree with all of them then you are simply not thinking for yourself.
Q: How good would you say you are at ITG right now?
I'd say I'm somewhere between sucks and sucks a lot. I've had a lot of gaps in between playing, gaps that easily average a couple of months at a time, and my scoring skill died out long ago. I'm more of a mod player now, I really don't have fun anymore without something making my screen looking fucking nuts, if there is more than one person in the room that can read my screen other than me, I'm disappointed. It isn't necessarily that I'm trying to show off, as it is very difficult to maintain that intent when you'll tell people about WinDEU immediately afterward, it's more like... I guess I want to guage the level of insane my modsets are and possibly get more people into mod reading.
Here at the end of these, things kind of got scattered about, I'm thinking that I'll stop here for now. It isn't that there isn't more feedback to talk about, it's just that I don't think I should kill it all off all at once.
